24 hours in Washington, DC

/ August 11, 2017

On a complete high from taking portraits of Michelle Obama’s staff at the White House, I was so excited to play tourist for 24 hours before flying back to Los Angeles the next day. We stayed at the Hamilton Crown Plaza — just minutes from the White House! — and we ended our shoot with a celebratory dinner (and the best drinks) at Pennsylvania 6 (everything was RED – a colorist’s dream!!). The next day, we started off with coffee (a matcha for me) at Baked and Wired and explored historic Georgetown. Of course, being the tourist that I am, I had to go see Big Abe at the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. Seeing these iconic places in real life was beyond surreal – you have no idea how big they are until you’re up close (no offense Abe!). We also visited the Holocaust Museum, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the C&O Canal Towpath. There’s still so much we didn’t have time to see, but we’ll keep the rest for next time!!

The White House – Michelle Obama’s staff | The Everygirl

/ August 11, 2017

Being able to collaborate with The Everygirl and The White House was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I could NOT pass up! Not only were these women beautiful and incredibly easy to photograph, I was quickly inspired by their journeys to the most important office in the United States. I even got to photograph the First Dogs — Sunny and Bo — inside the East Wing! When Michelle Obama shared the photo I took of her staff on her Instagram, it was one of those pinch me I’m dreaming moments. Pinches aside, I will never forget this moment!
